Initial track and climb
For every runway, turn onto the assigned heading or track at or above 1,500 ft.
The source presents both gradient sets without explaining the parenthetical convention on this sheet. Both are retained here pending verification of that convention against the applicable AIP legend. The turn altitude and climb-gradient altitude limits are separate values.
Communications failure
On recognising communications failure:- Set the transponder to 7600.
- Maintain the last assigned vector for two minutes. If necessary, climb to the minimum safe altitude to maintain terrain clearance.
- Then proceed in accordance with the latest ATC route clearance that you acknowledged.
Navigation reference and sector altitudes
Melbourne ML VOR/DME is 114.1 MHz. The 10 NM minimum sector altitude is 3,300 ft. Within 25 NM of ML VOR, the northern sector is 4,500 ft and the southern sector is 3,700 ft, divided by radials R-260° on the west side and R-080° on the east side. Tracks are magnetic and altitudes are feet above mean sea level. The diagram uses 12° east magnetic variation and is not to scale.Frequencies
All frequencies are MHz.
