Authorization and equipment

This required navigation performance (RNP) approach requires authorization (AR). It is for operators approved by Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). It requires radius-to-fix (RF) capability, local QNH and local temperature. Use QNH; the procedure temperature range is −2°C to +48°C. Holding is as directed by ATC. ATC approach-speed ranges are 160–185 kt at 10 NM from the threshold and 150–160 kt at 5 NM from the threshold.

Route from LUVKA

The map shows the RAZZI arrival joining at LUVKA. Cross LUVKA at or above 3,000 ft. The profile distances remaining to RW16 are 12.5 NM at LUVKA, 7.9 NM at AREXO and 3.3 NM at ML420. These include the curved route, not direct distance to the threshold. RW16 is a fly-over waypoint.

Three-degree descent checks

Begin the 3° descent at AREXO, at 3,000 ft. The first four distances below are to ML420 along the curved path. After ML420, distances are to RW16. Threshold elevation is 432 ft.

Straight-in minimum

For categories A–D, the chart provides an RNP 0.11 minimum of 820 ft above mean sea level, a 388 ft height above threshold, with 1.3 km visibility. It does not publish an RNP 0.3 minimum for this procedure.

Missed approach

Track 160° to ML430, 8 NM beyond RW16, then continue on 160°. Climb to 4,000 ft, or as directed by ATC.

Circling and alternate minima

Circling is not authorized. The chart gives these alternate ceiling and visibility values:

Frequencies

All frequencies are MHz.

Sector altitudes and map reference

The 10 NM minimum sector altitude is 3,300 ft. The 25 NM MSA, centred on the YMML aerodrome reference point, is 4,500 ft in the northern sector and 3,700 ft in the southern sector. Boundaries are labelled B-080° on the west side and B-260° on the east side. Bearings are magnetic, with 12° east variation. Elevations are feet above mean sea level. The map scale is 1:500,000, with a 0–5 NM scale bar. It covers labelled grid lines 37°30′–37°50′ S and 144°40′–145°00′ E. YMEN is Essendon Airport, south-east of Melbourne. The map prints these terrain and obstacle elevations, in feet: 2,195; 1,604; 1,598; 1,600; 1,468; 949; 1,021; 830; 655; 920; 687; 1,224; 1,171; 906; 1,007; 948; 935; 808; 775; 706; 945; 691; 564; 526; 552; 573; 1,041; 772; 697; 1,096; 657.
