This RNP 1 arrival uses magnetic tracks and distances in nautical miles (NM). Altitudes are feet above mean sea level. Maximum indicated airspeed (IAS) is 250 kt below 10,000 ft, with the additional runway-specific speeds below. The route tables keep segment minimum altitudes separate from waypoint crossing restrictions. Distances are for each leg.

Common route to BELTA

Cross ARBEY at or above 8,000 ft. At BELTA, follow the branch for your cleared runway.

Runway 27

Fly 230 kt IAS from BOBEL, then no more than 185 kt from VISAS. The chart’s ATC approach-speed range at VISAS is 160–185 kt. Turn left at LAKEP and right at DOKNO. From VISAS, follow the cleared GLS runway 27, RNP runway 27, ILS-Y/localizer-Y runway 27 or ILS-Z/localizer-Z runway 27.

Runway 34

Fly 230 kt IAS from GOSKO, then no more than 185 kt from AKDEL. The chart’s ATC approach-speed range at AKDEL is 160–185 kt. Turn right at BELTA, then left at OVNER, left at RENER, left at DUDAB and left at OBGAL. From AKDEL, follow the cleared GLS runway 34 or RNP runway 34 approach. Identify Melbourne runway 34 by its runway threshold identification lights. Essendon Airport is 5 NM south-east of ML.

Radio failure in instrument conditions

Set transponder code 7600. Comply with the vertical-navigation requirements, but do not descend below the minimum sector altitude. Follow the latest arrival clearance to the nominated runway, then fly the most suitable approach.

All frequencies are MHz.

Sector altitudes and chart conventions

The 10 NM minimum sector altitude (MSA) is 3,300 ft. The 25 NM MSA, centred on the YMML aerodrome reference point, is 4,500 ft in the northern sector and 3,700 ft in the southern sector. The boundaries are labelled B-080° on the west side and B-260° on the east side; these are bearing labels, not VOR radials. The diagram uses 12° east magnetic variation and is not to scale. YMEN identifies nearby Essendon Airport. Chart MMLSR31-183, revised 12 June 2025, from the fixed publication cycle effective 3 September 2026.
