Arrival to BIKUS

MARLN Six is an RNP 1 arrival. Tracking via RIKNI requires ATC clearance. The diagram depicts a hold at RIKNI with inbound track 263° and left turns; it does not print a holding altitude or leg time. From MARLN, track 264° to BIKUS, a 14 NM leg with a charted segment minimum altitude of 1,500 ft. Cross BIKUS at or above 8,000 ft, then follow the branch for the cleared runway. Distances are for each leg. The segment minimum altitude column reproduces the chart’s route altitude labels; waypoint crossing restrictions are listed separately.

Runway 25

From JELLI, follow the cleared GLS, ILS, RNP or localizer approach to runway 25.

Runways 07, 34L, 16L and 16R

Expect radar vectors to final.

Runway 34R

Follow the same route from BIKUS through WHALE to PRAWN, with the same altitude restrictions. At PRAWN:
  1. Turn left onto track 187° to MANFA, a 5 NM leg labelled with a 1,500 ft segment minimum altitude. Cross MANFA at no more than 235 kt indicated airspeed.
  2. Turn left onto track 155° to JAKLN, a 9 NM leg also labelled 1,500 ft.
  3. Continue on track 155° and expect radar vectors to final.
During precision runway monitoring operations, expect to track downwind until reaching 2,000 ft.

Approach speeds

Keep indicated airspeed at or below 250 kt below 10,000 ft, as well as any tighter limit stated on the route. The chart lists these ATC approach speed ranges:

Radio failure in instrument conditions

If able, contact Sydney approach on +61 2 9556 6515. Set transponder code 7600. Comply with the vertical-navigation requirements, but do not descend below the minimum sector altitude. Follow the latest arrival clearance to the nominated runway, then fly the most suitable approach.

Frequencies

All radio frequencies are MHz.

Sector altitudes and chart conventions

The 25 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,700 ft, centred on the YSSY aerodrome reference point. The 10 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,100 ft. Bearings are magnetic, with 13° east variation. Altitudes are feet above mean sea level unless a flight level is stated. These route diagrams are not to scale.
