SID Selection at Sydney (YSSY). A radar SID (e.g. SY (RADAR) SID) is distinct from a procedural SID with a RADAR transition (eg, GROOK SID, RADAR transition). A radar SID can be identified in the DAPs as having a “(RADAR)” at the end of the name. Some jet aircraft may require the use of the RADAR SID and will communicate this requirement when requesting airways clearance (see Climb Gradient Requirements).

Climb Gradient Requirements

Climb gradient requirements apply to all Procedural SIDs. It is the pilot’s responsibility to advise if they are unable to meet these requirements. Pilots that advise this shall be assigned the RADAR SID instead, regardless of aircraft type.

ANKUB Non-Jet SID

The ANKUB SID is a unique departure that is assigned to non-jets planned via KADOM or BENBU. On this SID, non-jets fly an assigned heading before being vectored by SY TCU to a waypoint to rejoin the procedure. SY ADC must give aircraft on this SID an assigned heading with their line up or takeoff clearance, in the same way as aircraft assigned the RADAR SID. Source: VATPAC Sydney SOP, CC BY 4.0.
