Departures
Complete cockpit checks before line-up whenever possible; keep checks that must be done on the runway to a minimum. After line-up clearance, taxi into position promptly without backtracking. Pilots and ATC should keep the aircraft moving where possible and avoid a standing start. Begin the takeoff roll as soon as takeoff clearance is issued.Arrivals
By day, ATC may apply 2,400 m runway separation between arrivals to 16R/34L; both aircraft may occupy the runway while that standard is applied. When operational conditions permit, expect the preferred exits below. Plan a predictable exit. If another exit is desired, advise tower on first contact. Landing exit distance (LED) means the distance from the landing threshold to the furthest edge of the exit taxiway. It assists exit planning; it is not a landing-distance calculation.
A non-jet preferring to vacate 16R north of B7 must advise tower before receiving landing clearance. These preferred-exit procedures do not apply during Sydney curfew hours.
