Set up the approach
Select GLS channel 22379, identifier G34B, with final course 335°. Distances are to RW34R, the runway threshold.
Final approach
The profile shows an initial 2,000 ft level segment through ENDEV, 12.8 NM from the threshold. Follow the 3° glidepath through OLSOG, 4.8 NM from the threshold, at a path altitude of 1,600 ft. The chart gives a threshold crossing height of 50 ft.
BOBIG is 8.1 NM from the threshold, between ENDEV and OLSOG.
Speeds and holding
Cross BOBIG at no more than 185 kt indicated airspeed. Cross OLSOG at no less than 150 kt indicated airspeed. The ATC approach speed ranges are 160–185 kt at BOBIG and 150–160 kt at OLSOG.
Holding is as advised by ATC.
Descent checks
Straight-in minima
These minima apply to categories A, B, C and D. Heights are above threshold; runway visual range (RVR) is in metres.
The lower GLS decision altitude requires a 4.8% missed-approach climb gradient. Use the row whose requirements can be met.
Missed approach
Track direct to SSYST, 2 NM beyond the threshold. Turn right, direct to SSYSH, then track 060°. Climb to 4,000 ft, or as directed by ATC. Keep indicated airspeed at or below 185 kt until SSYSH and meet the missed-approach climb gradient for the selected minima. No distance to SSYSH is printed on this sheet.
Parallel approaches
Sydney has closely spaced parallel runways. Simultaneous approaches are authorized with runway 34L under the precision runway monitoring instructions. Dual VHF communications are required during PRM operations. Transmit on tower and monitor both tower and PRM frequencies listed below. Aircraft may be radar vectored to final approach.
Circling and alternate minima
Circling is not authorized.
Frequencies
All frequencies are MHz.
Terrain and chart conventions
Use QNH. Bearings are magnetic, with 13° east variation. Altitudes and elevations are feet above mean sea level unless identified as radio-altimeter readings or heights. The map scale is 1:500,000. Aerodrome elevation is 21 ft; runway 34R threshold elevation is 13 ft.
The 25 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,700 ft and the 10 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,100 ft, centred on the YSSY aerodrome reference point.
The map labels obstacle and spot elevations of 160, 190, 250, 255, 299, 306, 320, 385, 389, 421, 426, 430, 545, 641, 677, 725, 862, 887, 894, 1,001, 1,074 and 1,085 ft. Their geographic placement still requires a complete text description.
