Departing aircraft

  1. Whenever possible, complete cockpit checks before lining up. Keep checks that must be completed on the runway to a minimum.
  2. When cleared to line up, taxi into position as soon as possible. Do not backtrack.
  3. Pilots and ATC should endeavour to keep the aircraft moving and avoid a standing start.
  4. Start the takeoff roll as soon as takeoff clearance is issued.

Arriving aircraft

By day, ATC may apply 2,400 m runway separation between aircraft arriving on 16/34. Both aircraft may occupy the runway while that standard is applied. By day or night, ATC may use 2.5 NM arrival spacing on 16/34 and 27. Expect to leave through the rapid-exit taxiways listed below. Whenever operational conditions permit, use the listed exits to reduce runway occupancy and support that spacing. Plan a predictable exit. If you need an exit other than the preferred one, advise tower on first contact.

Landing exits

Landing exit distance is measured from the runway threshold to the furthest edge of the exit taxiway. It is provided for exit planning. The rapid-exit taxiways G on 16, F on 34 and N on 27 have maximum design ground speeds of 53 kt, or 50 kt when wet. These are the chart’s design speeds, not a requirement to maintain that speed. The aerodrome layout identifies the taxiway connections. Aircraft-specific restrictions are on the Boeing 747-8 and A380 ground-movement pages.
