Use QNH and CB VOR/DME, 116.7 MHz. CB DME is required; GNSS may substitute using CB VOR as the reference waypoint. Aerodrome elevation is 1,887 ft and runway 17 threshold elevation is 1,874 ft.

Initial approach

Maximum initial IAS is 210 kt. Aircraft may be radar-vectored to an initial approach fix. TALAG is at 10 CB DME, coordinates 35°06′53″ S, 149°12′15″ E. The 10 CB DME arc is shown from R-260° through R-311° and R-029° to R-062°. The outer portions, R-260°–R-311° and R-029°–R-062°, show 5,100 ft. The central arc shows 5,000 ft. Lead radials 338° and 002° are marked for joining the final track; retain the cleared direction and entry. For the reversal from CB, start from the 5,100 ft profile reference and use the category-specific outbound track to 7 CB DME, then turn left to intercept 170° inbound:

Final profile

The approach path reference is 3°. The profile shows 5,000 ft on the central initial arc and a 4,100 ft step-down limit from 10 CB to 7 CB. After 7 CB, descend toward the selected minimum. 3.5 CB DME is the missed-approach point, not the runway threshold. It is 4.06 NM before threshold 17; 7 CB and 10 CB are respectively 7.56 NM and 10.56 NM before the threshold.

Missed approach

From the missed-approach point, track to CB VOR, then track 168°. At 6 CB DME, and not below 3,600 ft, turn left onto 020°. Continue climbing to 5,100 ft, or as directed by ATC. Both the distance and altitude conditions apply before the turn.

Holding at CB VOR

Inbound 344°, right turns, one-minute legs, minimum 5,100 ft; no DME limit is printed. Maximum holding IAS is 185 kt. The entry-sector diagram labels 094°, 164° and 274°. Separation from R450C is not assured when holding above the minimum altitude.

Minima

Altitudes are feet above mean sea level; heights and visibility reproduce the chart. Visibility is kilometres. Alternate height–visibility pairs are A/B/C 2,193 ft–6.0 km and D 2,333 ft–7.0 km. No circling beyond 4 NM west of runway 17/35.

Runway 17 PAPI

The precision approach path indicator is shielded 7° right for obstacle clearance. The left-hand PAPI is not visible closer than 1 NM.

Frequencies

Sector altitudes

The 10 NM minimum sector altitude is 5,100 ft. The 25 NM diagram is centred on CB VOR or NDB: 4,600 ft between R-305° and R-070°, 7,500 ft between R-070° and R-255°, and 5,900 ft between R-255° and R-305°.

Restricted areas and map conventions

The map labels R450A: surface–3,500 ft, R450B: 3,500–4,500 ft, and R450C: 4,500–8,000 ft. These are vertical limits, not a statement that the areas are active. Bearings are magnetic, with 12° east variation. Elevations are feet above mean sea level. Map scale is 1:500,000, with a 0–5 NM scale bar. The source colour note refers to specification notices; numerical restrictions and minima are reproduced in text here.

The source labels spot elevations of 2,944; 2,839; 2,880; 3,311; 2,241; 2,289; 2,425; 2,565; 2,506; 3,020; 2,226; 2,667; 2,810; 2,604; 2,641; 3,245; 3,543; 3,344; and 3,671 ft.
