This is an authorization-required RNP approach for CASA-approved operators only. Use Canberra QNH and Canberra temperature. The permitted procedure temperature range is −10°C to +45°C. The aircraft must support radius-to-fix (RF) legs; the curved legs below are defined arcs, not discretionary turns.
Maximum IAS on the initial approach is 210 kt. Aerodrome elevation is 1,887 ft, runway 17 threshold elevation is 1,874 ft, and threshold crossing height is 50 ft. The final descent path is 3°.
Join from SAPIT
Cross SAPIT at or above 5,000 ft. Total distance from SAPIT to RW17 is 16.5 NM.
The profile retains a 5,000 ft limit from SAPIT to CB405 and a 4,000 ft step-down limit after CB405. The approach path reaches 4,060 ft at CB402 before continuing down the 3° final profile. RNP 0.7 is required from CB402 to CB401.
Path-altitude checks
These path checks do not replace the crossing restrictions, step-down limits or selected minima.
Final approach and missed approach
From CB401, the final approach fix 5 NM before RW17, track 168° to RW17, the missed-approach point. The path altitude at CB401 is 3,520 ft. The chart does not give a separate path-altitude value at RW17 in its distance table.
For a missed approach, track 168° for 3.5 NM to CURTN, then follow the RNP AR missed-approach track to GEORG and climb to 5,000 ft:
CURTN is labelled the missed-approach holding fix. The plan view marks maximum IAS 220 kt at CB409. Fly the loaded missed-approach sequence; the straight 008° segment starts after the arcs.
Approach lighting note
Runway 17’s precision approach path indicator (PAPI) is shielded 7° to the right for obstacle clearance. The left-hand PAPI is not visible closer than 1 NM. This is a published visibility limitation; it is not a change to the 3° approach path.
Minima
Altitudes are feet above mean sea level; heights and visibility reproduce the chart’s parenthesized values. Select the minima corresponding to the approved RNP capability.
Circling is not authorized. The alternate row gives height–visibility pairs: A/B 1,863 ft–4.4 km, C 2,093 ft–6.0 km, D 2,233 ft–7.0 km.
Frequencies
Sector altitudes and map conventions
The 10 NM minimum sector altitude is 5,100 ft. The 25 NM diagram names the YSCB aerodrome reference point and uses the printed labels R-305°, R-070° and R-255°. The northern/eastern sector between R-305° and R-070° is 4,600 ft; the southern sector between R-070° and R-255° is 7,500 ft; the western sector between R-255° and R-305° is 5,900 ft. These are the chart’s labels, retained without changing the stated centre.
Bearings are magnetic, with 12° east variation. Elevations are feet above mean sea level. The map scale is 1:500,000, with a 0–5 NM scale bar. R450A, R450B and R450C are marked west of the airport; their vertical limits are not printed on this sheet. The RNP Z runway 35 reference includes those limits from its source chart.
The source’s colour note points to chart specification notices. Approach tracks, requirements, altitudes and minima are provided in text here; terrain shading and obstacle positions still require text coverage.
