Canberra (YSCB) has two intersecting runways: the main 17/35 runway runs north–south, and 12/30 crosses it on a northwest–southeast alignment. Taxiway B runs along the west side of the main runway; taxiway A serves its northeast side. The terminal and apron areas lie on both sides of the main runway. The airport reference position is 35°18′25″S, 149°11′42″E, and aerodrome elevation is 1,887 ft AMSL. Bearings are magnetic; the diagram shows 12° E variation. Dimensions and declared distances are metres. This is chart SCBAD01-188, revised 3 September 2026, from the fixed publication cycle of the same date.

Runways and declared distances

Runway 35’s landing threshold is displaced north of the physical southern end. Do not use the physical runway length as its landing distance. The northern turning area and runway 17 threshold arrangement still require a complete text description.

Taxiways and crossings

The chart labels A and B alongside runway 17/35, with E at the northern turning area, F across the northern portion, and D near the tower. Farther south, the main-runway connections include G, M, N and P. Taxiway N is adjacent to runway 35’s displaced threshold; P is near the physical southern end. Runway 12/30 has connections labelled C1–C5 and a surrounding network labelled C, H, I, J and K. The northwest apron area also labels H1, H2 and H3. The exact junctions and positions still require a complete text description; use the assigned taxi clearance to choose a route. Three enlarged areas are marked as runway-incursion hot spots:
  • Taxiway D’s crossing of runway 17/35, near the tower.
  • The runway 12/30 and runway 17/35 intersection, including the B, G and C connections.
  • The H, J and K connections around runway 12/30, northwest of the runway intersection.
The chart marks helicopter operations on the eastern grass and refers to ERSA for the operating details. The tower is east of the main runway near taxiway D. The VOR/DME and localizer are north of the aerodrome; the NDB lies east of the northern main-runway section, and the glidepath installation is southeast of the runway intersection.

Runway 17 visual approach aid

The runway 17 PAPI is shielded 7° to the right for obstacle clearance. The left-hand-side PAPI is not visible closer than 1 NM. See aerodrome lighting for PAPI angles and the runway-lighting table.

The plan shows spot elevations of 1,876, 1,886, 1,923, 2,156 and 2,175 ft AMSL around the aerodrome. Its scale is 1:30,000, with a metre scale bar. The grid spans the vicinity of 149°11′–13′E and 35°17′–19′S. Source: © Airservices Australia, Departure and Approach Procedures, SCBAD01-188. Change note: H1, H2 and H3 labels; editorial.
