A departure assignment depends on the aircraft type, planned route and ability to accept a procedural standard instrument departure (SID).
Jet departures
For a jet planned via CULIN, TANTA, WG VOR, HOWLY, NONUP or AVBEG, assign the procedural SID that ends at the planned waypoint.
If the jet is not planned via one of those points, amend its route through the most appropriate SID terminus, unless the pilot reports being unable to accept a procedural SID.
For example, a jet departing runway 35 and planned via TANTA receives the TANTA SID.
Non-jet departures
For a non-jet planned via DUBUS or IDROP, assign the procedural SID ending at the planned waypoint.
Radar departures
Assign the radar SID when either of these conditions applies:
- A jet or non-jet is departing off-mode and does not meet the procedural-SID criteria above.
- The aircraft cannot accept a procedural SID.
For example, a non-jet departing runway 35 and planned via TANTA receives the CB radar SID.
