# RNP approach to Sydney runway 34R

> RNP approach to Sydney runway 34R.

## Set up the approach

This is an **RNP APCH** procedure. Use **QNH**. For **LNAV/VNAV**, **YSSY QNH and temperature are required**; the procedure temperature range is **0°C to +61°C**.

The final approach course is **335°**. Profile distances are to **SSYSM**, the missed approach point at the runway threshold.

## Route and altitude restrictions

| Point or segment | Distance to SSYSM | Restriction or instruction |
| - | - | - |
| ENDEV, initial approach fix | 12.8 NM | At or above 3,000 ft; track 335° to SSYSF, a 6 NM leg |
| ENDEV to SSYSF | Ends at 6.8 NM | Minimum altitude 2,000 ft |
| SSYSF, final approach fix | 6.8 NM | Path altitude 2,240 ft; track 335° to SSYSM, a 6.8 NM leg |
| SSYSF to the 3 NM point | Ends at 3 NM | Minimum altitude 850 ft; path altitude at the end is 1,020 ft |
| After the 3 NM point | To SSYSM | Observe the selected LNAV/VNAV or LNAV minimum |

## Speeds and holding

Maximum initial indicated airspeed is **210 kt**. ATC approach speed ranges are **160–185 kt at 10 NM from touchdown** and **150–160 kt at 5 NM**. Holding is as directed by ATC. On the missed approach, keep indicated airspeed at or below **185 kt until SSYSH**.

## Descent checks

These are altitudes on the **3° path**. The distance reference changes at **SSYSF**: read the reference column before using a distance. Threshold crossing height is **50 ft**.

| Distance reference | Distance or position | Path altitude |
| - | - | - |
| To SSYSF | 2.4 NM | 3,000 ft |
| To SSYSF | 2 NM | 2,880 ft |
| To SSYSF | 1 NM | 2,560 ft |
| At SSYSF | Final approach fix | 2,240 ft |
| To SSYSM | 6 NM | 1,970 ft |
| To SSYSM | 5 NM | 1,660 ft |
| To SSYSM | 4 NM | 1,340 ft |
| To SSYSM | 3 NM | 1,020 ft |
| To SSYSM | 2 NM | 700 ft |
| To SSYSM | 1.6 NM | 560 ft |
| To SSYSM | 1.4 NM | 500 ft |

## Straight-in minima

These minima apply to categories **A, B, C and D**. Published heights are retained separately from altitudes.

| Approach | Minimum altitude | Published height | Visibility |
| - | - | - | - |
| LNAV/VNAV | Decision altitude 500 ft | 487 ft | 2.4 km |
| LNAV | Minimum descent altitude 560 ft | 547 ft | 2.8 km |

## Missed approach

Track **direct to SSYST**, the missed approach turning fix **2 NM beyond SSYSM**. Turn **right**, direct to **SSYSH**, then track **060°**. Climb to **4,000 ft**, or as directed by ATC. Keep indicated airspeed at or below **185 kt until SSYSH**.

SSYSH is the missed approach holding fix; no distance to it is printed on this sheet.

## Circling and alternate minima

**Circling is not authorized.**

| Category | Alternate ceiling | Alternate visibility |
| - | - | - |
| A and B | 1,269 ft | 4.4 km |
| C | 1,479 ft | 6.0 km |
| D | 1,479 ft | 7.0 km |

## Frequencies

All frequencies are MHz.

| Service | Frequency |
| - | - |
| ATIS | 118.55 |
| Approach north | 124.4 |
| Approach south | 128.3 |
| Director east | 125.3 |
| Director west | 126.1 |
| Tower | 124.7 |
| Surface movement east of runway 16R/34L | 121.7 |
| Surface movement west of runway 16R/34L | 126.5 |

## Terrain and chart conventions

Use **QNH**. Bearings are magnetic, with **13° east** variation. Altitudes and elevations are feet above mean sea level unless identified as radio-altimeter readings or heights. The map scale is **1:500,000**. Aerodrome elevation is **21 ft**; runway 34R threshold elevation is **13 ft**.

The **25 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,700 ft** and the **10 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,100 ft**, centred on the **YSSY aerodrome reference point**.

The map labels obstacle and spot elevations of **160, 190, 250, 255, 259, 299, 306, 320, 385, 389, 421, 430, 545, 641, 721, 725, 862, 887 and 1,085 ft**. Their geographic placement still requires a complete text description.

Chart **SSYGN02-187**, revised **9 July 2026**, from the fixed publication cycle effective **3 September 2026**.
