# RNP approach to Sydney runway 07

> RNP approach to Sydney runway 07.

## Set up the approach

This is an **RNP APCH** procedure. Use **YSSY QNH**. For **LNAV/VNAV**, YSSY temperature is also required and the procedure temperature range is **0°C to +61°C**.

The final approach course is **062°**. The missed approach point **SSYWM** is at the runway threshold; distances in the profile are to SSYWM unless stated otherwise.

## Route and altitude restrictions

| Point or segment | Distance to SSYWM | Instruction or restriction |
| - | - | - |
| GURSI, initial approach fix | 14.4 NM | Cross between 4,000 ft and 7,000 ft; track 061° to ANKUB, a 4.7 NM leg |
| ANKUB, initial/intermediate fix | 9.7 NM | Profile level altitude 3,000 ft; continue on 062° |
| ANKUB to the 7 NM point | Ends at 7 NM | Minimum altitude 2,000 ft |
| 7 NM point to SSYWF | Ends at 4 NM | Minimum altitude 1,300 ft |
| SSYWF, final approach fix | 4 NM | 3° path altitude 1,330 ft |
| SSYWF to the 2.2 NM point | Ends at 2.2 NM | Minimum altitude 700 ft; path altitude at 2.2 NM is 770 ft |
| After the 2.2 NM point | To SSYWM | Observe the applicable LNAV/VNAV or LNAV minimum |
| SSYWM, missed approach point | 0 NM | Threshold crossing height 50 ft on the 3° path |

The leg from ANKUB to SSYWF is **5.7 NM**. The final leg from SSYWF to SSYWM is **4 NM**.

## Descent checks

The chart changes the distance reference at SSYWF. The first group is distance **to SSYWF**; the second is distance **to SSYWM**.

| Distance reference | Distance | Altitude on the 3° path |
| - | - | - |
| To SSYWF | 5.2 NM | 3,000 ft |
| To SSYWF | 4 NM | 2,600 ft |
| To SSYWF | 3 NM | 2,290 ft |
| To SSYWF | 2 NM | 1,970 ft |
| To SSYWF | 1 NM | 1,650 ft |
| At SSYWF | 0 NM | 1,330 ft |
| To SSYWM | 3 NM | 1,020 ft |
| To SSYWM | 2.2 NM | 770 ft |
| To SSYWM | 1.6 NM | 580 ft |
| To SSYWM | 1.4 NM | 500 ft |

## Straight-in minima

These minima apply to categories **A, B, C and D**. Heights are above the reference elevation used by the chart.

| Approach | Minimum altitude | Published height | Visibility |
| - | - | - | - |
| LNAV/VNAV | Decision altitude 500 ft | 484 ft | 2.7 km |
| LNAV | Minimum descent altitude 580 ft | 559 ft | 3.2 km |

## Missed approach

Track **direct to SSYWH**, the missed approach holding fix **3 NM beyond SSYWM**. Then track **062°** and climb to **3,000 ft**, or as directed by ATC.

## Speed limits and holding

Cross **GURSI at no more than 210 kt indicated airspeed** and **ANKUB at no more than 185 kt**. The ATC approach speed ranges are **160–185 kt at ANKUB** and **150–160 kt at 5 NM from touchdown**. Holding is **as directed by ATC**; no holding pattern is specified on this chart.

## Circling and alternate minima

Do not circle **beyond 3 DME from SY, east of runway 16R and north of runway 25**. The distance for this restriction is from **SY DME**, not the runway threshold or the approach’s distance reference.

| Aircraft category | Circling minimum altitude | Height above aerodrome | Visibility | Alternate ceiling / visibility |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| A and B | 790 ft | 769 ft | 2.4 km | 1,269 ft / 4.4 km |
| C | 1,000 ft | 979 ft | 4.0 km | 1,479 ft / 6.0 km |
| D | 1,000 ft | 979 ft | 5.0 km | 1,479 ft / 7.0 km |

## Frequencies

All radio frequencies are MHz.

| Service | Frequency |
| - | - |
| ATIS | 118.55 |
| Approach north | 124.4 |
| Approach south | 128.3 |
| Director east | 125.3 |
| Director west | 126.1 |
| Tower | 120.5 |
| Surface movement east of runway 16R/34L | 121.7 |
| Surface movement west of runway 16R/34L | 126.5 |

## Terrain and chart conventions

Use **QNH**. Altitudes and elevations are feet above mean sea level; tracks are magnetic. The chart shows **13° east** magnetic variation and a **1:500,000** map scale. Aerodrome elevation is **21 ft** and runway 07 threshold elevation is **16 ft**.

The **25 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,700 ft** and the **10 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,100 ft**, both centred on the **YSSY aerodrome reference point**. Nearby aerodrome labels on the map are **YSBK, YFIW and YSHW**.

The map’s labelled obstacle and spot elevations are **160, 190, 250, 255, 259, 273, 285, 299, 306, 320, 385, 389, 421, 430, 641, 725, 820, 870, 887 and 1,085 ft**. Their geographic placement still requires a complete text description.

Chart **SSYGN05-187**, revised **9 July 2026**, from the fixed publication cycle effective **3 September 2026**.
