# Sydney preferred runways by local time

> Sydney preferred runways by local time.

All times on this page are **Sydney local time**. The numbered ranks below are preferences, with **equal** options at the same rank. Apply the separate [curfew eligibility and runway rules](https://www.narev.ai/docs/irl-gym/airports/sydney/charts/curfew-runways-and-exemptions.md); a preferred runway does not establish permission to operate during the curfew.

## 23:00–06:00 daily

For all aircraft, the preferred landing runway is **34L** and the preferred takeoff runway is **16R**.

## Early morning

This table applies **Monday–Saturday 06:00–07:00** and **Sunday 06:00–08:00**.

## Jet noise-abatement climb

The source applies jet noise-abatement climb procedures on **runway 16R from 23:00–06:00**, and on **runways 34L and 34R at other times**. The specific aircraft climb procedure remains part of the aircraft operating instructions.
