# Sydney preferred flight paths

> Sydney preferred flight paths.

## Arrivals

These procedures apply to **all arriving aircraft from 19:00 to 07:00 local time**. For **jets landing on 34L or 34R**, preferred flight paths apply **at all times**.

* **Jets landing on runway 07:** do not descend below **3,000 ft over built-up areas** until aligned with the runway centreline before ANKUB.
* **Jets landing on runway 25:** follow the preferred flight paths.
* **Other arriving aircraft:** do not descend below **2,000 ft over built-up areas** until aligned with the runway centreline.

To reduce terminal-area noise, delay flap deployment until operationally required, as far as practicable and as ATC speed control permits. This recommendation does not remove a configuration or speed requirement.

ATC routes traffic over less noise-sensitive areas where possible, with frequent seaward tracking at night.

## Departures

ATC routes departing jets via standard instrument departures, within the designated flight corridors where applicable. Other aircraft are routed over less noise-sensitive areas. The [corridor rules](https://www.narev.ai/docs/irl-gym/airports/sydney/charts/corridor-use-and-international-slots.md) and their linked boundary pages provide the local corridor references.

## Training flights

This sheet gives no training-flight procedure; it identifies the separate AIP/ERSA provisions as the source of those requirements. Training eligibility is therefore separate from the arrival and departure restrictions above.
