# Sydney GROOK Two departure from runway 16R

> Sydney GROOK Two departure from runway 16R.

This is an **RNP 1** departure from **runway 16R**. **Do not make the initial turn to the left during parallel runway operations.** Maximum IAS is **250 kt below 10,000 ft**; the transition limits below also apply. The initial climb gradient is **3.3%**, with a higher requirement on the KADOM and STUIE transitions.

## From runway 16R to GROOK

1. Track **155°**.
2. As soon as practicable, **turn right direct to DUNES**. The diagram labels the departure-to-DUNES segment **8 NM**.
3. At DUNES, **turn left onto 152° to DEENA**, **5 NM**.
4. Continue **152° to GROOK**, **6 NM**.

The caution prevents an initial turn toward the parallel runway; it does not cancel the subsequent published left turn at DUNES.

## Radar transition

From GROOK, continue **152°** and expect vectors to the cleared route. If cleared via OLSEM, the BANDA requirements below apply.

## KADOM transition

Maximum IAS is **270 kt until ANKUB**, while retaining the general 250 kt limit below 10,000 ft.

| Leg | Turn at start | Track | Distance | Crossing requirement |
| - | - | -: | -: | - |
| GROOK → OLVAG | Right | 217° | 5 NM | OLVAG at or above 6,000 ft |
| OLVAG → GUSPU | Right | 272° | 5 NM | — |
| GUSPU → EGOPO | Right | 336° | 7 NM | EGOPO at or above 10,000 ft |
| EGOPO → ANKUB | Left | 332° | 8 NM | ANKUB at or above FL130 |
| ANKUB → KADOM | Left | 283° | 38 NM | Then as cleared |

The required gradient **to ANKUB is 5.4%**.

## STUIE transition

Follow the KADOM transition’s route through **OLVAG, GUSPU, EGOPO and ANKUB**, including the **5.4% gradient to ANKUB**, crossing restrictions and **270 kt limit until ANKUB**. Then:

| Leg | Turn at start | Track | Distance | Requirement |
| - | - | -: | -: | - |
| ANKUB → UPMAR | Left | 324° | 6 NM | UPMAR at or above FL150; maximum 300 kt until UPMAR |
| UPMAR → STUIE | Continue | 324° | 19 NM | Then as cleared |

## Wollongong transition

Maximum IAS is **270 kt until ISBEX**, while retaining the general 250 kt limit below 10,000 ft.

| Leg | Turn at start | Track | Distance | Requirement |
| - | - | -: | -: | - |
| GROOK → OLVAG | Right | 217° | 5 NM | OLVAG at or above 6,000 ft |
| OLVAG → ISBEX | Continue | 217° | 10 NM | End of the stated 270 kt limit |
| ISBEX → WOL NDB | Left | 209° | 15 NM | Then as cleared |

## OLSEM–Y193–BANDA requirement

For aircraft cleared via **OLSEM–Y193–BANDA**, reach:

| Distance remaining to BANDA | Required flight level |
| - | - |
| By 156 NM | FL180 |
| By 144 NM | FL220 |
| By 110 NM | FL250 |

**Advise ATC if unable to comply.**

## Frequencies

All frequencies are MHz.

| Service | Frequency |
| - | - |
| ATIS | 118.55 |
| Airways clearance delivery | 133.8 |
| Surface movement east of runway 16R/34L | 121.7 |
| Surface movement west of runway 16R/34L | 126.5 |
| Tower | 120.5 |
| Departure north: north and east routes | 123.0 |
| Departure south: south, west and northwest routes | 129.7 |
| Approach during curfew hours | 128.3 |

## Sector altitudes and chart conventions

The **25 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,700 ft**, centred on the **YSSY aerodrome reference point**. The **10 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,100 ft**. Bearings are magnetic, with **13° east** variation. Altitudes are feet above mean sea level unless a flight level is stated. These route diagrams are **not to scale**.
