# GLS approach to Sydney runway 07

> GLS approach to Sydney runway 07.

## Set up the approach

Select **GLS channel 22790**, identifier **G07A**, with final approach course **062°**. The GURSI transition requires **RNP 1**. Distances on this approach are to **RW07**, the runway threshold.

## From GURSI to final

1. Cross **GURSI**, 14.4 NM from RW07, **between 4,000 ft and 7,000 ft**.
2. Track **061° to ANKUB**, 9.7 NM from RW07. The profile levels at **3,000 ft** before ANKUB.
3. Follow final course **062°** on the **3° glidepath**. Pass **VIDIK**, 3.9 NM from RW07, at a path altitude of **1,320 ft**.

The threshold crossing height is **51 ft**.

## Descent checks

| Distance to RW07 | Altitude on the 3° path |
| - | - |
| 9.2 NM | 3,000 ft |
| 9 NM | 2,930 ft |
| 8 NM | 2,610 ft |
| 7 NM | 2,300 ft |
| 6 NM | 1,980 ft |
| 5 NM | 1,660 ft |
| 3.9 NM, VIDIK | 1,320 ft |
| 3 NM | 1,020 ft |
| 2 NM | 700 ft |
| 1 NM | 390 ft |
| 0.5 NM | 220 ft |

## Straight-in minima

For categories **A, B, C and D/DL**, the GLS decision altitude is **216 ft**, a **200 ft** height above threshold. Required visibility is **1.5 km**, with **1,500 m RVR** printed on the chart.

## Missed approach

Track **062°** and climb to **3,000 ft**, or as directed by ATC.

## Speed limits and holding

Cross **GURSI at no more than 210 kt indicated airspeed** and **ANKUB at no more than 185 kt**. The ATC approach speed ranges are **160–185 kt at ANKUB** and **150–160 kt at 5 NM from touchdown**. Holding is **as directed by ATC**; no holding pattern is specified on this chart.

## Circling and alternate minima

Do not circle **beyond 3 DME from SY, east of runway 16R and north of runway 25**. The distance for this restriction is from **SY DME**, not the runway threshold or the approach’s distance reference.

| Aircraft category | Circling minimum altitude | Height above aerodrome | Visibility | Alternate ceiling / visibility |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| A and B | 790 ft | 769 ft | 2.4 km | 1,269 ft / 4.4 km |
| C | 1,000 ft | 979 ft | 4.0 km | 1,479 ft / 6.0 km |
| D/DL | 1,000 ft | 979 ft | 5.0 km | 1,479 ft / 7.0 km |

## Frequencies

All radio frequencies are MHz.

| Service | Frequency |
| - | - |
| ATIS | 118.55 |
| Approach north | 124.4 |
| Approach south | 128.3 |
| Director east | 125.3 |
| Director west | 126.1 |
| Tower | 120.5 |
| Surface movement east of runway 16R/34L | 121.7 |
| Surface movement west of runway 16R/34L | 126.5 |

## Terrain and chart conventions

Use **QNH**. Altitudes and elevations are feet above mean sea level; tracks are magnetic. The chart shows **13° east** magnetic variation and a **1:500,000** map scale. Aerodrome elevation is **21 ft** and runway 07 threshold elevation is **16 ft**.

The **25 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,700 ft** and the **10 NM minimum sector altitude is 2,100 ft**, both centred on the **YSSY aerodrome reference point**. Nearby aerodrome labels on the map are **YSBK, YFIW and YSHW**.

The map’s labelled obstacle and spot elevations are **160, 190, 255, 270, 273, 285, 299, 306, 320, 385, 389, 421, 426, 430, 545, 641, 677, 725, 820, 870, 887, 894, 1,001, 1,074 and 1,085 ft**. Their geographic placement still requires a complete text description.

Chart **SSYGL01-187**, revised **9 July 2026**, from the fixed publication cycle effective **3 September 2026**.
