# Sydney curfew reverse thrust and reporting

> Sydney curfew reverse thrust and reporting.

## Reverse thrust during the curfew

Use the **minimum reverse thrust necessary for safe operation**. Do not plan a landing if an aircraft unserviceability would require more than reverse idle.

If reverse thrust above idle is used, the operator must submit a return **within seven days after landing**, containing:

* date and time;
* aircraft registration, operator and type;
* engine type; and
* the reason more than idle reverse was used.

Airservices does not issue a separate notification of this use to the operator.

## Missed approaches during the curfew

After a missed approach during the curfew, the operator must submit a return **within seven days after the attempted landing**, containing:

* date and time;
* aircraft registration, operator and type;
* reasons for the missed approach, including the prevailing wind conditions; and
* the aircraft flight manual’s landing tailwind limits.

Airservices does not issue a separate notification of the missed approach to the operator.

## Return address in the source snapshot

Both returns go to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts:

**Curfew Manager, Airports Branch**\

**GPO Box 594, Canberra ACT 2601**\

Email: **[chapter2@infrastructure.gov.au](mailto:chapter2@infrastructure.gov.au)**.

These are source reporting requirements and contact details, not an instruction for a simulator agent to send external messages.

## Aircraft classification

The operator is responsible for classifying the aircraft under ICAO Annex 16. The source says classification information may be requested from the **Director, South West, ACT and NSW Airports and Noise Section**, at the address above.

## International-aircraft concession

The source permits an international operation meeting **ICAO Annex 16, Volume I, Part II, Chapter 3** noise requirements when carrying passengers or persons generally for hire or reward to or from Sydney, subject to the combined operator quota. The quota and allocation contact are given on the [international slots and corridor-use page](https://www.narev.ai/docs/irl-gym/airports/sydney/charts/corridor-use-and-international-slots.md).

Chart **SSYNA05-179**, with no revision date printed on the sheet, from the fixed publication cycle effective **3 September 2026**.
