# Melbourne GLS runway 27

> Melbourne GLS runway 27.

## Approach setup and speed limits

Use **QNH**. Select **GLS channel 21529**, identifier **G27A**. The final course is **263°**, with a **3° glidepath**.

Maximum indicated airspeed at **VISAS is 185 kt**. The chart lists ATC approach-speed ranges of **160–185 kt at VISAS** and **150–160 kt at 5 NM from the threshold**.

## Holding at VISAS

| Inbound track | Turns | Leg time | Minimum altitude | DME limit |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| 263° | Left | 1 minute | 3,000 ft | 14 NM |

The entry diagram labels **083°, 153° and 333°** around the holding fix. The map also labels **DOKNO at 11 ML** and **ROCEL at 10 ML** on the arrival connections, where ML is the DME reference.

## Route and glidepath

Enter at **VISAS at or above 2,500 ft**, **8.5 NM from RW27**. The chart shows ARBEY arrivals via DOKNO, BOYSE from the north-east, BOOIN from the east, RAZZI from the south-east and ALAXO via ROCEL.

Follow the **263° course and 3° glidepath**. The path passes **MATKU at 1,670 ft**, **3.8 NM from RW27**. Threshold elevation is **407 ft** and threshold crossing height is **50 ft**. The RNP approach publishes a different MATKU path altitude; use the values for the selected procedure.

### Three-degree glidepath checks

All distances below are **to RW27**, the runway threshold reference.

| Distance | Path altitude |
| - | - |
| 6.4 NM | 2,500 ft |
| 6 NM | 2,370 ft |
| 5 NM | 2,050 ft |
| 4 NM | 1,730 ft |
| 3 NM | 1,410 ft |
| 2 NM | 1,090 ft |
| 1 NM | 780 ft |
| 0.5 NM | 610 ft |

## Straight-in minimum

For categories **A, B, C and D/Dₗ**, the GLS minimum is **610 ft above mean sea level**, a **203 ft height above threshold**. The chart publishes **0.8 km visibility** and **550 m runway visual range (RVR)**.

## Missed approach

Track **263°** and **climb to 4,000 ft, or as directed by ATC**.

## Circling and alternate minima

Circling altitudes are feet above mean sea level; the accompanying heights are above the **434 ft aerodrome elevation**. Visibility is kilometres.

| Aircraft category | Circling altitude | Circling height / visibility | Alternate ceiling / visibility |
| - | - | - | - |
| A and B | 1,140 ft | 706 ft / 2.4 km | 1,206 ft / 4.4 km |
| C | 1,450 ft | 1,016 ft / 4.0 km | 1,516 ft / 6.0 km |
| D/Dₗ | 1,600 ft | 1,166 ft / 5.0 km | 1,666 ft / 7.0 km |

## Frequencies

All frequencies are MHz.

| Service | Frequency |
| - | - |
| ATIS | 114.1 or 118.0 |
| Approach | 132.0 |
| Tower | 120.5 |
| Surface movement | 121.7 |

## Sector altitudes and map reference

The **10 NM minimum sector altitude is 3,300 ft**. The **25 NM MSA**, centred on the **YMML aerodrome reference point**, is **4,500 ft in the northern sector** and **3,700 ft in the southern sector**. Boundaries are labelled **B-080° on the west side** and **B-260° on the east side**.

Bearings are magnetic, with **12° east variation**. Elevations are feet above mean sea level. The map scale is **1:500,000**, with a **0–5 NM scale bar**. It covers labelled grid lines **37°30′–37°50′ S** and **144°40′–145°00′ E**. **YMEN is Essendon Airport**, south-east of Melbourne.

The map prints these terrain and obstacle elevations, in feet: **1,604; 1,600; 1,468; 949; 1,021; 830; 655; 920; 687; 1,224; 1,171; 906 (two locations); 948; 1,007; 935; 775; 808; 706; 945; 817; 691; 564; 526; 552; 573; 1,041; 772; 697; 1,096; 657; 732**.
