# Canberra ATIS weather note

> The turbulence advisory required for a strong westerly crosswind at Canberra.

When the **crosswind component from the west exceeds 11 kt**, Canberra’s ATIS significant-weather field must advise pilots to **expect turbulence over runway 17/35 south of the runway intersection**. Include the applicable runway number in the message.

The threshold applies to the crosswind component, not simply the reported wind speed.
