# Canberra ILS-Z runway 35 — part 2

> Special-authorisation ILS CAT I and CAT II profile and minima.

This page gives the ILS CAT II, special-authorisation CAT II and special-authorisation CAT I minima. **Special aircrew and aircraft certification is required.** The [first chart](https://www.narev.ai/docs/irl-gym/airports/canberra/charts/ils-z-or-loc-z-runway-35-part-1.md) provides the ordinary CAT I and localizer-only procedure.

This is the fixed 3 September 2026 publication cycle, individual revision **19 March 2026**, chart **SCBII03-186**.

The published track is **348° magnetic**, with a **3° glidepath**. Use QNH; elevations are feet AMSL. Aerodrome elevation is **1,887 ft**, runway 35 threshold elevation is **1,869 ft**, reference datum height is **50 ft**, and magnetic variation is **12° E**.

**Use ICB DME for the Z approach profile.** The approach arcs are referenced to **CB DME**. The Y approach uses CB DME in its profile, so its distances cannot be substituted for these Z approach distances.

## Radio and navigation setup

| Service or aid | Frequency / identification |
| - | - |
| Canberra VOR/DME | **CB 116.7 MHz** |
| Runway 35 ILS/DME | **ICB 109.5 MHz** |
| ATIS | 116.7 MHz, 127.45 MHz, 263 kHz (NDB) |
| AWIS, after hours | 116.7 MHz |
| Approach | 124.5 MHz |
| Tower | 118.7 MHz |
| Surface movement / airways clearance | 121.7 MHz |
| Flight information, after hours | ML CEN 125.9 MHz |
| CTAF + AFRU, after hours | 118.7 MHz |
| AFRU + PAL, after hours | 118.7 MHz |

DME or GNSS is required for ILS SA CAT I; **DME is required for ILS CAT II and SA CAT II**.

## Approach profile

| Fix | NM to ICB DME | NM to threshold 35 |
| - | -: | -: |
| MENZI | 13.1 | 12.9 |
| KATIA | 11.1 | 10.9 |
| MOMBI | 9.1 | 8.9 |
| DAMKO | 4.0 | 3.8 |

MENZI is shown at **5,400 ft** and KATIA at **5,100 ft**. The profile gives a 3° glidepath, with computed checks at KATIA, MOMBI and DAMKO below. These are ILS procedures; the localizer-only step-down profile belongs to part 1.

## 3° approach-path altitude checks

| NM to ICB DME | Altitude, ft AMSL |
| -: | -: |
| 1 | 2,200 |
| 2 | 2,500 |
| 3 | 2,820 |
| 4 | 3,140 |
| 5 | 3,460 |
| 6 | 3,780 |
| 7 | 4,100 |
| 8 | 4,410 |
| 9.1 | 4,760 |
| 10 | 5,050 |
| 10.2 | 5,110 |
| 11 | 5,370 |
| 11.1 | 5,400 |

## Holding at MOMBI

Hold right-hand on inbound track **348°**. At **5,100 ft**, maximum IAS is **170 kt** and the limiting distance is **12 NM ICB DME**; that row gives no holding time. At **5,600 ft**, maximum IAS is **210 kt** with a **1-minute** time; that row gives no DME limit. The plan shows holding-sector boundaries of 098°, 168° and 278°.

Aircraft holding at MOMBI may begin descent once established inbound on the approach. The chart depicts the southern AVBEG/POLLI and BUNGO/LEECE arrival entries, CB radial 143° and lead radial 159°, a **13 NM CB DME arc at 6,000 ft**, and an inner arc at **5,100 ft**. Follow the selected arrival and clearance to join the approach.

## Missed approach

**Track 348°. Climb to 5,100 ft, or as directed by ATC.** Apply the gradient associated with the selected minima to **3,200 ft**, then **2.5%**.

## Minima

These minima apply to aircraft categories A–D. DA is feet AMSL, the height in parentheses is above threshold, RA is the published radio-altimeter setting, and RVR is metres.

| Procedure | Radio-altimeter setting | DA (height) | RVR | Initial missed-approach gradient |
| - | -: | - | - | - |
| ILS CAT II | 101 ft | 1,969 ft (100 ft) | 350 m | 4.6% |
| ILS SA CAT II | 101 ft | 1,969 ft (100 ft) | 350 m for A–C; 400 m for D | 4.6% |
| ILS SA CAT I | 152 ft | 2,019 ft (150 ft) | 450 m | 3.8% |

The chart labels these procedures as requiring special aircrew and aircraft certification. It also directs readers to the special notices for its use of colour.

**No circling beyond 4 NM west of runway 17/35**.

## Terrain, airspace and minimum sector altitudes

The **10 NM MSA is 5,100 ft**, referenced to CB VOR or NDB. The 25 NM MSA diagram divides the surrounding area at CB radials **305°, 070° and 255°**: **4,600 ft** in the northern/eastern sector from 305° clockwise to 070°, **7,500 ft** from 070° clockwise to 255°, and **5,900 ft** from 255° clockwise to 305°.

The plan view marks R450A with upper limit **3,500 ft** and lower limit **SFC**, R450B **4,500/3,500 ft**, R450C **8,000/4,500 ft**. Their boundaries and the surrounding terrain still require a complete text description. These airspace labels do not provide clearance to enter them.

The charted spot elevations include 2,226, 2,241, 2,289, 2,425, 2,506, 2,565, 2,604, 2,641, 2,667, 2,810, 2,839, 2,880, 2,944, 3,020, 3,245, 3,311, 3,344, 3,543 and 3,671 ft. Use the procedure altitudes and restrictions; a list of spot elevations is not terrain clearance.
