# Preliminary preflight — part 2

> Preliminary preflight — part 2: conditions, actions and checks for the Boeing 737-800.

Use this procedure when its prerequisites apply. Confirm each required aircraft state before acknowledging the corresponding checklist item.

## General

Complete the preliminary, CDU, captain and first-officer procedures in the applicable ground configuration. Retain the side-specific requirements. A captain instrument or control does not satisfy an independent first-officer or standby check.

Use the assigned detailed panel procedures for Set, Check, Test and Pass requirements. Observe the specified result and restore the required operating configuration after each actual cockpit test. Do not operate a system merely because its control appears in the reference list.

Complete loading, performance preparation and the required equipment checks before progressing to the dependent departure procedures. Where an item requires an external inspection or crew adjustment, retain the assigned verification or explicit scenario exclusion.

### 1. Service interphone — **Off**

Bring the service interphone to OFF only after determining its current state.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** OFF
>
> **Verification:** Read back OFF after any change.

### 2. Engine panel — **Set**

Set the engine panel in accordance with the applicable detailed panel procedure.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Verify every setting in the approved subprocedure.

### 3. Oxygen panel — **Set**

Set the oxygen panel in accordance with the applicable equipment configuration and pressure criteria.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Use the approved oxygen setup and pressure criterion.

### 4. Landing gear light — **Illuminated**

Check the gear-safe indications while the aircraft is in its verified ground configuration.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Illuminated
>
> **Verification:** Require the intended gear lights to be illuminated using the applicable lamp decoding.

### 5. Flight recorder — **Guard closed**

Verify the flight-recorder guard is closed.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Guard closed
>
> **Verification:** Observe the actual recorder guard.

### 6. Stall warning test — **Pass**

Run the approved stall-warning test and assess its required result, not just its command completion.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Pass
>
> **Verification:** Require the specified test indication or shaker/audio result.

### 7. Manual gear extension door — **Closed**

Verify the manual-extension access door is closed. Avoid emergency-extension handles during this normal check.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Closed
>
> **Verification:** Observe the cover/door state.

### 8. Parking brake — **As needed**

Establish the required parking-brake state for the current ground operation. Observe the current state before using the toggle and verify the selected state.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** As needed
>
> **Verification:** Observe the requested brake state, and for ground-handler control obtain the actual handler instruction.

## Continue after this procedure

No explicit source transition is declared. Select the next applicable procedure after the required completion and entry conditions are established.
