# First officer preflight — part 3

> First officer preflight — part 3: conditions, actions and checks for the Boeing 737-800.

Use this procedure when its prerequisites apply. Confirm each required aircraft state before acknowledging the corresponding checklist item.

## General

Complete the preliminary, CDU, captain and first-officer procedures in the applicable ground configuration. Retain the side-specific requirements. A captain instrument or control does not satisfy an independent first-officer or standby check.

Use the assigned detailed panel procedures for Set, Check, Test and Pass requirements. Observe the specified result and restore the required operating configuration after each actual cockpit test. Do not operate a system merely because its control appears in the reference list.

Complete loading, performance preparation and the required equipment checks before progressing to the dependent departure procedures. Where an item requires an external inspection or crew adjustment, retain the assigned verification or explicit scenario exclusion.

### 1. Cabin pressurization panel — **Set**

Resolve the required pressurization settings and landing elevation from mission data; distinguish FLT ALT from LAND ALT.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Verify the selected cruise/landing targets and pressurization configuration.

### 2. Lighting panel — **Set**

Apply the approved lighting-panel setup without inventing which lights Set includes.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Verify the requested lights, using the configured landing-light variant.

### 3. Ignition select — **Ign l or r**

Select IGN L or IGN R as assigned. Verify the selected ignition source.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** IGN L or R
>
> **Verification:** Observe the actual selected ignition-source state.

### 4. Engine start — **Off**

Select both engine start switches OFF. Verify both rotary-switch positions. These switches are separate from the fuel/start levers.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** OFF
>
> **Verification:** Require both applicable rotary-switch states.

### 5. Mode control panel — **Set**

Set the assigned Mode Control Panel targets and switch selections. Verify each selected target and mode separately.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Read back each required target and switch separately.

### 6. EFIS control panel — **Set**

Set only the EFIS selections specified by the assigned mission and configuration; confirm the actual display mode and units.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Check the selected EFIS state and required displayed navigation information.

### 7. Oxygen — **Test and set**

Carry out the approved mask test and setup for the side named by the section.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Test and set
>
> **Verification:** Require the test result and the prescribed final configuration.

### 8. Clock — **Set**

Resolve the required clock mode/time from the mission profile and observe the result.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Read the relevant clock display after any command.

### 9. Display select panel — **Set**

Apply the specified display-selection subprocedure and confirm the resulting display layout.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set
>
> **Verification:** Observe selector positions and the target displays.

## Continue after this procedure
