# Before taxi — part 2

> Before taxi — part 2: conditions, actions and checks for the Boeing 737-800.

Use this procedure when its prerequisites apply. Confirm each required aircraft state before acknowledging the corresponding checklist item.

## General

Enter this procedure after completion of the engine-start sequence and verification of the applicable engine-running condition. The start-lever IDLE check confirms the completed configuration; it does not replace the N2-gated fuel-admission steps in [Engine Start](https://www.narev.ai/docs/irl-gym/aircraft/procedures/engine-start-1.md).

Complete generator, heat, air-system and start-switch selections. Verify ground equipment clear, the assigned takeoff flap configuration and the required flight-control check before taxi movement. Use the assigned taxi route and steering/braking procedure.

### 1. Engine start levers — **Idle**

Set both engine start levers to IDLE. The start levers control fuel admission; they are separate from the rotary engine start switches.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** IDLE
>
> **Verification:** Read back the lever positions and the phase-appropriate engine outcome.

### 2. Ground equipment clear — **Verify**

Obtain actual confirmation that the tug and relevant ground equipment are clear before taxi movement.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Verify
>
> **Verification:** Use a ground-service/environment report or operator attestation that covers the aircraft’s intended movement.

### 3. Flap lever — **Set takeoff flaps**

When the stated condition is satisfied, select the takeoff flap setting specified by the applicable performance data. Verify the required lever detent and actual flap/slat configuration.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Set takeoff flaps
>
> **Verification:** Verify the chosen lever detent and the required actual flap/slat configuration.

### 4. Flight controls — **Check**

Perform the approved control movement/check sequence and confirm actual control-surface response.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** Check
>
> **Verification:** Confirm the required surface travel, direction and final control state using the detailed test criteria.

### 5. Lower DU — **Blank**

Set the lower display unit to BLANK and observe the result.

> **Checks and evidence**
>
> **Expected response:** BLANK
>
> **Verification:** Confirm the actual LDU mode/display is blank.

## Continue after this procedure

No explicit source transition is declared. Select the next applicable procedure after the required completion and entry conditions are established.
