# Instruments, navigation and radios

Read flight instruments and configure altimeters, radios, IRS and electronic displays.

Distinguish a control input, selected target, switch position, system state and displayed result. They are not interchangeable. Some supplied actions write a different internal binding from the corresponding observation.

The abbreviated references below identify Python enum members, not public API paths.

| Required distinction | Interpretation |
| - | - |
| Actual / selected altitude | A selected altitude is not actual altitude or clearance. |
| Pitch / pitch control | Control ratio is not pitch angle. |
| N1 / thrust-lever position | A thrust-lever percentage is not engine N1. |
| N2 / starter cutout | N2 reaching 56% does not prove start-switch OFF or starter-valve closure. |
| Start lever / thrust lever | Fuel admission is controlled by the start lever, not the forward thrust lever. |
| Flap lever / extension | Lever percentage does not establish actual flap or slat extension. |
| Gear selection / safe indication | A completed action is not three green; safe lights do not identify the lever OFF detent. |
| A/T arm / active thrust mode | Arm-switch position is not active thrust or speed control. |
| APP selection / capture | APP selection is not lateral or vertical capture. |
| Cabin altitude / LAND ALT | Current cabin altitude is not selected landing altitude. |
| Switch position / annunciation | A light can depend on power or system operation, not only switch position. |
